The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has decided to suspend the planned nationwide protest following the first day's impactful demonstrations against the prevailing economic hardships in the country.
The protesters, carrying placards with messages addressing issues such as high living costs, inflation, and insecurity, marched to the National Assembly to present their demands to the government. In a communique issued after a National Executive Council meeting, the NLC appreciated the massive turnout and deemed the message effectively communicated.
However, the NLC has given the Federal Government a fresh 14-day ultimatum, set to expire on March 13, for the full implementation of agreements reached on October 2, 2023, and other demands.
The NLC vows to continue defending the interests of Nigerian workers and the masses, reaffirming their commitment to further action if the government fails to comply.
