Nigerian Young Women coalition accuses APC leaders of deceiving over 400 women in Abuja with false promises. They were given "Say No To Protest" banners instead of palliative rice. The group demands an apology and an investigation into the exploitation.
In a recent controversy, the Nigerian Young Women (NYW) coalition has accused Mrs. Tinu A. Abiola and Comfort Shekwoyan of Women for Peace Security and Social Initiative of deceiving over 400 women in Abuja. According to a statement by NYW President Ambassador Ojineme Enakeme, the women were lured to Eagle’s Square with promises of 50kg bags of rice. Instead, they were handed banners reading “Say No To Protest” and photographed for political purposes.
The event, initially advertised as a palliative distribution, was later revealed to be a political maneuver designed to undermine protests against the government. Attendees, who were mobilized under pretenses, were coerced into holding the banners and promoting the APC’s agenda.
The NYW has condemned the deception, demanding a public apology from Mrs. Abiola and Comfort Shekwoyan. They are also calling for an investigation into Women for Peace Security and Social Initiative to prevent future exploitation. The group insists that the government address the plight of vulnerable women and prevent political manipulation.
