The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), under the leadership of Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has declared a 40-day prayer and fasting campaign aimed at addressing the ongoing challenges facing the nation. The initiative is a call for divine intervention, to bring relief and prosperity to Nigeria during its time of hardship. The campaign will begin on January 6, 2025, and culminate with a national prayer gathering in Abuja on February 14, 2025.

Bishop Oke, along with PFN Deputy President Archbishop John Praise Daniel, shared details of the campaign in a press briefing on Thursday. They called on Pentecostal churches, Christians, and all Nigerians to unite in prayer for the nation's revival. This period of fasting is set to be a key element of the PFN’s 18th Biennial Conference, which will take place in Abuja from February 10 to 14, 2025, under the theme "The Rebirth of a Great Nation: Nigeria is Great."

Bishop Oke emphasized that Nigeria's challenges are a shared responsibility between its leaders and citizens. He drew inspiration from the biblical story of Nineveh, where the people cried out for mercy and were delivered. The PFN believes that through collective prayer, Nigeria can overcome its hardships and emerge stronger.

Reflecting on the nation’s struggles, Oke compared Nigeria to a mother in labor, experiencing pain but poised for a new beginning. Archbishop Daniel echoed this optimism, expressing hope for Nigeria’s future, where peace, economic recovery, and prosperity would prevail, bringing an end to issues like kidnapping, banditry, and violence.
