Federal High Court convicts Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju for fatal plastic surgery, reinforcing accountability in healthcare. Former FCCPC Director-General, Babatunde Irukera, hails the verdict. Adepoju was found guilty on all counts

The Federal High Court in Lagos State has delivered a significant verdict, convicting Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, a medical doctor and the founder of MedContour Services Ltd., for a failed plastic surgery that led to the death of Nneka Onwuzuligbo in 2020, as reported by FIJ. Babatunde Irukera, a former Director-General of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), revealed the outcome on Friday.

In a tweet under the handle #TundeIrukera, Irukera expressed pride in personally prosecuting the case, emphasizing its role in strengthening the accountability framework within society. He hailed the conviction as a testament to how society should function, ensuring professionals are held responsible for their actions. Dr. Anu Adepoju and her medical practice were found guilty on all five counts charged by the FCCPC, marking a significant victory for consumers of professional services.

Previously, in 2020, the FCCPC had arraigned Adepoju on five counts before Justice Mohammed Liman. The charges stemmed from allegations that the cosmetic surgeon had ignored summonses from the agency and failed to produce certain documents.
