Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of NiDCOM, announces the rescue of 10 teenage girls trafficked to Ghana for prostitution. NIDO facilitated their rescue, leading to the arrest of the trafficker.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, head of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), reveals the rescue of over 10 teenage girls trafficked to Ghana for prostitution.
The girls, aged 15 to 18, were saved by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO). The suspected trafficker has been apprehended in Ghana. NiDCOM plans to involve NAPTIP in the case.
This comes after recent revelations by NAPTIP's DG, Fatima Waziri-Azi, about investigations into orphanages linked to human trafficking.
Additionally, in April, the Nigerian Army in Lagos arrested a suspected trafficker, Olushola Areke, accused of kidnapping a 22-year-old girl named Fayoke Kunle.
