Disgraced Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith, known as Chef Smith, has publicly apologized for presenting a counterfeit Guinness World Record (GWR) certificate for the longest individual cooking marathon. During a press conference in Accra, Chef Smith falsely claimed to have set a record with 802 hours and 25 minutes. However, GWR verified that the current record holder is Alan Fisher of Ireland, with a duration of 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds.

In a viral video, a tearful Chef Smith was seen on his knees, flanked by two emotional women, apologizing to the nation. Speaking in Twi, he admitted his wrongdoing and expressed deep remorse. "I have committed a great sin and I don’t even deserve to live anymore but please forgive me and my entire family. I have sinned against the entire nation," he said. Chef Smith revealed that he applied to GWR to attempt breaking the record but proceeded without approval, seeking to showcase his talent and gain fame.

Nigerians have reacted with a mix of humor and disbelief. Some comments include, "How did he think he was going to get away with this?" and "Say Nigeria is better than Ghana and we’ll forgive you." The incident has sparked a wave of online banter and criticism, highlighting the rivalry between the two nations.

Chef Smith's apology included mentions of the president, the vice president, former President Mahama and his wife, and Nana Boro, seeking forgiveness from all. The incident has left many Ghanaians embarrassed and apologizing to their Nigerian neighbors.
