In 2024, Google's "Year in Search" for Nigeria highlighted some of the country's top search trends, with prominent figures such as Bobrisky, Beta Edu, Shallipopi, and Ogechi lyrics topping the charts. According to Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google West Africa’s Communications Manager, these results reflect the interests and priorities of Nigerians throughout the year.

The report revealed that Bobrisky, a popular figure in Nigerian entertainment, led the personality search trends, followed by Beta Edu, a Nigerian politician. Other significant searches included global interest in figures like Donald Trump, and local searches related to prominent deaths, including actor Junior Pope and businessman Herbert Wigwe.

Nigerians also displayed a strong interest in entertainment, with movies like A Tribe Called Judah, Treasure In The Sky, and Damsel topping the movie charts. Popular television series such as Supacell, My Demon, and Queen of Tears also captured significant attention.

On the culinary front, Nigerians were particularly interested in the "Pornstar Martini recipe." Additionally, political and economic topics remained at the forefront, with searches related to the U.S. elections, Nigeria’s new national anthem, and the country’s national grid leading the news category.
