UNICEF has revealed that nutrition supplements for malnourished children in Sokoto State are being stolen and replaced with stones. The stolen supplements are sold in local markets, depriving vulnerable children of vital nutrition. This shocking discovery has sparked outrage and raised concerns about corruption within the system.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has raised concerns over the theft and illegal sale of nutrition supplements meant for malnourished children in Sokoto State. According to Mr. Micheal Juma, UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office for Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara, the supplements, provided by donors and distributed to healthcare centers, are being stolen and replaced with stones by corrupt individuals. These stolen supplements are then sold in the market, depriving malnourished children of the much-needed nutrition. Juma expressed his dismay during a quarterly policymakers' meeting, highlighting that the stolen supplements were intended to improve the lives of vulnerable children in these communities.

During an investigation, UNICEF discovered that personnel in charge of the supplements had connived with traders to carry out this illicit activity. Cartons that were supposed to be filled with nutrition supplements were found stocked with stones and other objects. The incident has sparked outrage among the public, with many expressing disbelief and anger over the actions of those involved.

On social media, reactions ranged from shock to humor. One user commented on the absurdity of the situation, likening it to a film series, while another expressed frustration over the constant negative news coming from Nigeria. Some users pointed out that only someone aware of the supplements' value would engage in such an act, while others criticized the overall state of leadership in the country.
