Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has put forward Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the son of a prominent politician and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, for a commissioner position in his cabinet.

The nominations were officially communicated to the Kano State House of Assembly, with the governor seeking confirmation of the appointees. This development has sparked controversy and raised concerns about nepotism and political influence within the state.
Critics have questioned the governor's decision to appoint individuals with close ties to influential political figures, emphasizing the need for transparency and meritocracy in government appointments.
The nominations are expected to undergo screening by the assembly on April 2, 2024, amid growing public scrutiny and debate over the governor's selections
