The UAE has lifted its visa ban on Nigerian passport holders, as announced by Information Minister Mohammed Idris after a Federal Executive Council meeting. While this marks a significant diplomatic milestone, Nigerians are reacting with both skepticism and optimism on social media.

The United Arab Emirates has officially lifted the visa ban on Nigerian passport holders, marking a significant diplomatic milestone between the two nations. Information Minister Mohammed Idris confirmed the development following a Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu.

The Federal Government has reached a compromise with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), leading to the lifting of the visa ban on Nigerian passport holders. This development was disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, shortly after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday.

“Nigeria has been discussing with the UAE over the ban on Nigerians traveling to that country, but today an agreement has been reached on that,” said Minister Idris. “Now Nigerian passport holders can be issued visas to travel to the United Arab Emirates.”

Despite the positive announcement, reactions from Nigerians have been mixed. Many expressed skepticism, citing previous instances where similar announcements were made but not implemented. Social media platforms were flooded with comments reflecting both optimism and doubt.

Most Nigerians remained cautious, saying, “This is not news, let's wait for the UAE to confirm it. But at the meantime, how many Nigerians can still afford to travel to UAE, even if they have ‘lifted the ban’?”

Others showed hope and support for the government's efforts, commenting, “Tinubu and his economic team will get it right! The only problem is that he will still not get the praise and credit he deserves when things start moving in the right direction! They will figure it out! I believe in Mr. President and his economic team!”

As the news spreads, many Nigerians are awaiting official confirmation from the UAE, hoping this marks a genuine improvement in international relations and travel opportunities.
