Nine senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a significant parliamentary realignment. The defecting senators include Sen. Ireti Kingibe (FCT, LP), Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto South, PDP), Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South, APGA), Sen. Victor Umeh (Anambra Central, LP), and Sen. Austin Akobundu (Abia Central, PDP), among others. The defections were formally announced on the floor of the Senate, marking a major boost for the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections. The move follows a separate announcement in the House of Representatives where six lawmakers defected to the ADC and six others to the APC.
