Organised labour, represented by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), has declared a nationwide strike beginning midnight on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. The directive follows the assault on NLC President, Joe Ajaero.
All affiliate unions of NLC and TUC are instructed to implement resolutions from the joint National Executive Council. TUC President, Festus Osifo, announced the strike, emphasizing its continuation until "governments at all levels wake up to their responsibility."
The move underscores labour's commitment to addressing the assault on Ajaero and pressing for government accountability. As the nation braces for the impact of this widespread strike, the organised labour's stance signals a firm demand for responsive governance.
