Air Peace denies involvement in the arrest of NLC President Joe Ajaero by the DSS. The airline clarifies that a prior dispute from 2023 has been resolved and its petition against the NLC was withdrawn. Air Peace urges the public to disregard any insinuations of its involvement in the arrest.

Air Peace has denied any involvement in the arrest of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero by the Department of State Services (DSS) at Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Ajaero was detained en route to the United Kingdom for an official engagement.

In a statement signed by the airline’s spokesperson, Omotade Makinwa, Air Peace clarified that media reports suggesting the arrest stemmed from a petition filed by the airline were misleading. The petition, which was submitted over a year ago following an NLC disruption of Air Peace's operations in May 2023 due to a conflict with the Imo State Government, had already been resolved.

The airline emphasized that it had withdrawn the petition and resumed a positive working relationship with the NLC long before Ajaero's arrest. Makinwa expressed concern over the negative publicity surrounding the incident, reiterating that Air Peace was not responsible for the arrest and had no current issues with the labor union.

The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard any suggestions of Air Peace’s involvement in Ajaero’s detention.
