NNPC has denied reports claiming the Old Port Harcourt refinery has shut down. The refinery, which resumed operations in November 2024, is running at 70% capacity, producing kerosene, diesel, LPFO, and petrol. NNPC urges the public to ignore false claims and emphasizes efforts to ensure a steady fuel supply.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has denied claims that the Old Port Harcourt refinery has ceased operations. In a statement released on December 21, 2024, NNPC spokesperson Femi Soneye labeled these reports as "totally false," emphasizing that the refinery is fully operational.

The refinery, which underwent rehabilitation, resumed crude oil processing on November 26, 2024, and is currently operating at 70% capacity. Daily production includes 900,000 liters of kerosene, 1.5 million liters of diesel, and 2.1 million liters of low-pour fuel oil (LPFO). Additionally, the facility is producing 1.4 million liters of petrol through blending operations.

Soneye cautioned the public to disregard the false reports, attributing them to individuals attempting to create artificial scarcity and manipulate the market. The NNPC is also preparing to load petroleum products for distribution.
