The Dangote Petroleum Refinery clarified it hasn't received payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for petrol sales. The refinery stated that no approval from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) exists for such transactions, emphasizing the need for direct dealings and unity among stakeholders.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has stated that it has not received any payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) concerning petrol sales. According to Anthony Chiejina, the refinery’s group chief branding and communications officer, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has not granted any approvals for the sale of petrol to marketers.
On October 29, Aliko Dangote, the founder of Dangote Industries Limited, mentioned that the refinery holds over 500 million litres of petrol, which is not being purchased by oil marketers. In response, IPMAN asserted that its members had been unable to load petrol from the Dangote refinery despite paying N40 billion to NNPC.
The Dangote refinery clarified that it has no direct business dealings with IPMAN and cannot be held liable for payments made to other parties. Chiejina stressed that payments should be made directly to the refinery, which is ready to fulfill the nation's demand for petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel.
The refinery is equipped to load 2,900 trucks per day and has been transporting products by sea. Chiejina urged IPMAN to communicate directly with the refinery for transactions and emphasized the need to avoid misleading claims that could undermine government efforts.
