Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has ruled out any reconciliation with Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, intensifying the political crisis in Rivers State. Despite efforts by President Tinubu to mediate, Wike remains focused on his FCT mandate, leaving the rift unresolved and the state's governance in turmoil.

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has definitively ruled out any chance of mending his fractured relationship with Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara. Speaking during a media briefing to mark his first year in office, Wike made it clear that his priority is to fulfill the mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu, and he has no intention of extending his support to Fubara.

The tension between Wike and Fubara has been a prominent issue since Fubara took office, leading to significant discord within the Rivers State House of Assembly, where factions have emerged. Despite mediation efforts by President Tinubu and other influential political figures, the conflict remains unresolved.

Wike reflected on his role in supporting Fubara's rise to governorship, stating that his actions were done with sincerity. However, he now believes that Fubara has distanced himself from the political circle that initially backed him. Wike compared the situation to that of former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who eventually parted ways with his political mentor, Tinubu.

In his remarks, Wike emphasized that he stands firm in his decision and will continue to focus on his duties as FCT Minister. He expressed no regret over his past support for Fubara but made it clear that reconciliation is off the table. Wike's unwavering stance signals the ongoing challenges in Rivers State's political landscape.
