The North West Governors Forum has pledged full support for President Tinubu’s economic policies, with a focus on agriculture, poverty reduction, and employment. In collaboration with the UN and African Development Bank, the governors aim to uplift the region’s socio-economic conditions, starting with Kaduna and Kano.
The North West Governors Forum has expressed its full backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic policies. At a recent meeting in Abuja, the governors from the region reiterated their commitment to supporting the President’s economic agenda. The session was led by Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, the Governor of Katsina State, and was attended by Governors Uba Sani of Kaduna, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, and Umar Namadi of Jigawa.
International representatives, including Amina Mohammed, the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Mohammed Malik Fall, the UN Resident Coordinator, and Maryam Uwais, a UN consultant on North West Nigeria, also participated in the meeting.
Dr. Radda outlined key areas of collaboration with international partners, notably the UN and the African Development Bank, on the Agriculture 2.0 project. This initiative focuses on enhancing agriculture in the North West, with Kaduna and Kano identified as initial focal points. The governors are working together to combat poverty, improve education, and create employment opportunities for the region’s young population.
The governors also emphasized their collective effort to address out-of-school children and poverty in the region. They are also ensuring effective coordination with development agencies by appointing focal persons in each state. Furthermore, the governors confirmed Hajiya Maryam Musa Mohammed as the Director-General of the North West Development Forum to oversee the forum's activities. They affirmed their unwavering support for President Tinubu’s vision for economic prosperity.
