The NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu has announced that the N77,000 allowance for corps members will commence by the end of March. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their welfare while also confirming the mobilization of full-time HND graduates for NYSC service, marking a significant policy change.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu has assured corps members that the long-anticipated N77,000 monthly allowance will be paid starting at the end of March. Speaking at NYSC zonal offices in Wuse and Garki, Abuja, Nafiu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing corps members’ welfare.

During his address, he praised the scheme’s impact in fostering national unity and cultural exchange. He also urged corps members to remain dedicated and disciplined while assuring them of the scheme’s efficiency in processing payments. A corps member, Zaka Deborah Alheri, expressed appreciation for Nafiu’s dedication to ensuring the new allowance is implemented.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has also authorized the NYSC to mobilize full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for service, a move welcomed as a step towards inclusivity in the education sector.
