The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, announced a significant increase in the monthly allowance for corps members. Starting February 2025, the allowance will rise to N77,000, up from the previous N33,000.
The increase is part of the 2025 Federal Government budget and aims to provide better financial support to corps members during their service. Ahmed announced during a meeting with the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina on January 30, 2025. He assured the corps members that the new allowance would be implemented once the 2025 budget is passed.
In addition to the financial boost, Ahmed emphasized the importance of dedication and commitment during the service year, urging the corps members to appreciate the Federal Government’s support. He also reassured them that future postings would avoid areas with significant security risks, ensuring the safety of the corps members.
This development has been welcomed by many, as the increase in allowance is expected to improve the living conditions of corps members across Nigeria, providing them with a more comfortable and secure experience during their national service. The new monthly allowance will take effect as soon as the 2025 Federal Government budget is officially approved.
