The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that corps members will soon receive a monthly allowance of N77,000 in 2025. This follows arrangements made for the raised allowance and includes measures to improve the transportation of both staff and corps members, benefiting their welfare.

Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has confirmed that corps members will soon begin receiving a monthly allowance of N77,000. This announcement came during the commissioning of a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance in Abuja on January 7, 2025.

Ahmed emphasized that the welfare and security of corps members were his top priorities. He assured them that all necessary arrangements had been made for the implementation of the increased allowance, which will take effect in 2025. The allowance is expected to provide financial relief and support for corps members during their service year.

In addition to the allowance increase, the DG highlighted that the bus donation was aimed at addressing transportation challenges faced by both staff and corps members. The NYSC has long faced transportation issues, especially for staff commuting to and from the office.

Matthew Ogwezhi, CEO of Capital Express Insurance, explained that the donation was part of the ongoing partnership between the company and the NYSC. He added that the legacy of any organization lies in the positive impact it makes in society, and this donation was meant to ease transportation difficulties amid rising fuel costs in the capital city.

The NYSC's steps to improve both the financial and logistical aspects of corps members’ service are welcomed by many and are expected to enhance their overall experience.
