NYSC Director General Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed revealed that a bread seller, who did not attend the University of Calabar, was fraudulently mobilized for service. This comes as the NYSC invalidates 178 certificates following the university's report of irregularities. The NYSC vows to enhance its vetting process.

In a recent revelation, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), disclosed that a bread seller, who had never attended the University of Calabar, was fraudulently mobilized for the NYSC program by the institution. This comes amidst a significant purge of invalid certificates, with the NYSC having recently voided 101 certificates, bringing the total to 178.

Ahmed commended Professor Florence Obi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, for her transparency in reporting the issue. She had flagged the inclusion of names on the graduation list that did not belong to genuine graduates. Ahmed confirmed that these fraudulent entries would be removed, and the implicated certificates invalidated.

This situation highlights ongoing issues with the mobilization process and the presence of fraudulent practices within educational institutions. The NYSC is committed to thorough scrutiny and reform to ensure the integrity of the mobilization process. The case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced in maintaining rigorous standards in the educational and national service systems.
