Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the ongoing economic difficulties. In a recent interview on Arise TV, Obasanjo expressed his optimism, stating that although the country is facing hardships, he believes Nigeria will ultimately reach its destined greatness. He emphasized that Nigeria is meant to be prosperous, likening it to a land "flowing with milk and honey," rather than one in despair.

Obasanjo acknowledged the current challenges, attributing them to both the actions of past leaders and citizens. However, he expressed confidence that Nigeria will soon overcome these obstacles with God's guidance. He also stressed the importance of leadership, both for current officeholders and former leaders, to continue serving humanity beyond their time in power. According to Obasanjo, leadership extends beyond office and should be used to advance the common good.

The former president also addressed the issue of global leadership, criticizing the "deficit of leadership" in politics. He noted that both current and former leaders have a responsibility to contribute to a better world, stressing the need for political leaders to work towards global peace and stability.

Obasanjo concluded by urging the U.S. President-elect, Donald Trump, to show respect and dignity toward Africa, addressing past derogatory remarks about African nations. He emphasized that Africa's potential must be recognized, and cooperation with the U.S. should be based on mutual respect.
