The Digest:
Three former governors of Abia State, Orji Kalu, Theodore Orji, and Okezie Ikpeazu, have inaugurated a technical committee tasked with securing a comprehensive victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. The committee, inaugurated in Umuahia, comprises former legislators and appointees from their administrations (1999-2023). Senator Orji Kalu, representing Abia North, disclosed the committee was constituted in January to create a blueprint for the party and state, with plans for a strategic meeting to finalize election preparations. "We are showing people our commitment for our party to win from the president to the House of Assembly," Kalu said. Meanwhile, Mascot Kalu, the senator's younger brother, declared his readiness to contest the 2027 governorship poll under the APC, promising to develop the state's resources if elected. The committee is chaired by ACB Agbazuere, former chief of staff to Ikpeazu. The Labour Party's Alex Otti currently governs Abia, popular for rebuilding infrastructure and restoring public faith.
