The House of Representatives has confirmed Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria's new Chief of Army Staff, following his appointment by President Tinubu. The House of Representatives has officially confirmed Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff (COAS). This confirmation followed a report presented by Babajimi Benson, the Chairman of the Committee on Defense after Oluyede was screened by the Joint Committee on Army and Defense on Wednesday.
Oluyede's appointment comes after he was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the Acting COAS following the sudden illness of the previous COAS, Taoreed Lagbaja, who eventually passed away. Oluyede has since been filling the role on an interim basis, ensuring continuity in leadership for the Nigerian Army.
