Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, denies organizing a seven-day national prayer against economic hardship, contrary to circulating reports. Her spokesperson clarified the First Lady’s support for prayer but refuted claims of involvement. Nigerians are advised to verify information through official sources to avoid misinformation.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has denied involvement in organizing a seven-day national prayer session aimed at addressing the nation’s economic and security challenges. The rumored prayer initiative, reportedly coordinated by the National Prayer Forum (NPF), was said to involve both Christian and Muslim leaders, to foster national unity and resilience. The proposed event, according to reports, was planned to take place at the National Mosque for Muslim participants and the National Ecumenical Centre for Christians, with the theme “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs.” Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the NPF, had described the event as a call for collective action amid Nigeria’s difficulties.

However, Busola Kukoyi, spokesperson for the First Lady, released a statement on Saturday refuting these claims, labeling the reports as false and misleading. Kukoyi clarified that while the First Lady supports prayer for Nigeria’s well-being, she had not initiated or organized any national prayer session. She urged Nigerians to verify information involving the First Lady through official channels and cautioned the public against spreading unconfirmed news.
