In Ebonyi State, Nigeria, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has appealed to market women not to increase food prices ahead of the festive season. Addressing women at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki during the 2024 Women’s Day Celebration, she urged them to avoid unfair price hikes. This comes as the Yuletide season approaches, a time when food prices typically rise.

Tinubu, who acknowledged the support of Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, emphasized the importance of maintaining fair prices to ease the burden on families. She also inaugurated a 3.1-kilometer runway at the Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Onueke, signaling the start of increased commercial activities that could boost the state's economy.

Later, she met with traditional rulers in the state, praising their peaceful nature and urging them to continue fostering unity. The First Lady also commended the governor's efforts in empowering women, noting that many high-ranking officials in the state government are women.

Additionally, she announced that Governor Nwifuru had allocated funds for business grants, empowering 130 individuals with one million Naira each for business revitalization. As part of her support, Tinubu also donated N50 million, along with 20,000 wrappers, shoes, and bags to support women’s businesses in the state.
