Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has rejected any move by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to join the APC, stating they should remain in PDP. He emphasized APC’s growing strength in Delta, citing defections and the party’s electoral success while criticizing PDP’s leadership failures.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy Senate President, has firmly opposed any move by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Ika South and Ika North East, Omo-Agege stated that the duo should remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as they are not welcome in the APC.

Omo-Agege, who was the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 Delta State election, highlighted the party’s growing strength in Delta, citing recent defections of key PDP members, including a senator and several House of Representatives members. He criticized the PDP for downplaying APC’s influence despite the party securing two senatorial seats, multiple House of Representatives seats, and a significant share of votes in Delta Central.

The senator further accused Oborevwori’s administration of stifling opposition voices within the Delta State House of Assembly, leading to mounting dissatisfaction among legislators. He assured APC members that internal disputes within the party would be resolved before the 2027 elections, emphasizing that PDP’s national crisis could render it politically irrelevant.

While welcoming other defectors, Omo-Agege reiterated that Okowa and Oborevwori should remain in PDP to rebuild their party. He expressed confidence in APC’s growing influence, crediting President Bola Tinubu’s policies for making the party more attractive in Delta State.
