The Ondo State House of Assembly and former chief press secretary to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Richard Olatunde, have vehemently refuted claims made by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa regarding his purported endorsement as Akeredolu's successor.
Olatunde cautioned Aiyedatiwa against exploiting the late governor's name for political advantage, asserting that neither Akeredolu's family nor his supporters endorse Aiyedatiwa's succession.
The Assembly, through key members including Majority Leader Hon Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi and Minority Leader Hon Olajide Oguntodu, also disavowed the purported endorsement, emphasizing that the Assembly never passed any resolution to support Aiyedatiwa's gubernatorial aspirations.
They criticized the Speaker's public declaration as misleading and unrepresentative of the Assembly's democratic principles, leading to a vote of no-confidence in his leadership.
This development underscores escalating political tensions and divisions within Ondo State ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial elections.
