Aiyedatiwa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered a total of 355,781 votes, significantly outpacing his main rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 117,845 votes.
The final collation of results was overseen by the Returning Officer, Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja. The smooth conduct of the election and the wide-reaching support for Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy were widely acknowledged. Traditional rulers in the state also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful election process.
