The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has addressed the ongoing legal challenges faced by his estranged wife, Naomi Silekunola, following a tragic incident during a charity event in Ibadan. The December gathering, which sought to assist underprivileged children, led to a stampede, resulting in the deaths of over 30 minors.

The former Queen, alongside event collaborators Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of Agidigbo FM, and Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of Islamic High School, has been arraigned on charges including negligence, conspiracy, and failure to ensure proper safety measures. All accused are currently in custody at the Agodi Correctional Facility.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Otunba Moses Olafere, the Ooni expressed his unwavering prayers for Naomi, emphasizing his belief in her good intentions. While refraining from interfering with the legal process, the monarch voiced confidence that the court would uncover the truth and vindicate her.
