Adams Oshiomhole, a lawmaker from Edo State, praised former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for his contributions to the transformation of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under President Bola Tinubu's administration. Oshiomhole, speaking at a New Year luncheon in Port Harcourt on December 3, 2025, thanked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allowing Wike, a former member of the party, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oshiomhole likened the PDP's decision to a football club releasing its best player to a rival team, a move that typically demands a high price. He expressed appreciation for Wike's decision to support Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, despite his fallout with the PDP. The lawmaker acknowledged that Wike’s leadership in the FCT has brought about significant changes, emphasizing that the minister’s role requires making tough decisions and stepping on toes to enforce necessary reforms.

Oshiomhole also hinted that Wike’s contributions were invaluable and highlighted the importance of respecting environmental laws and the rule of law in the nation's capital.
