The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State Chapter, has commenced an indefinite strike led by its chairman, Oluwagbenga Olakunle Eludire. The strike, effective immediately, follows protests on Monday and Tuesday by Osun JUSUN members against alleged maladministration by the embattled Osun Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo.
JUSUN members accuse Justice Ojo of unjustly persecuting staff and withholding entitlements, including the restoration of training exercises, arrears of wardrobe allowances from 2021 to 2023, and the reinstatement of suspended judiciary staff. The chairman emphasized the need for prompt regularization and promotion exercises, urging the swift implementation of other entitled benefits.
In response to these grievances, Eludire directed all judiciary workers in the state to refrain from attending courts and offices, urging a withdrawal of services. The strike adds to the growing challenges within the Osun judiciary, raising concerns about the impact on legal proceedings and the resolution of internal issues within the judicial system.
