Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused Minister Gboyega Oyetola of plotting chaos by enforcing a controversial court ruling reinstating sacked APC council chairmen. Adeleke warned of security agencies’ involvement and urged President Tinubu to intervene, calling the move unconstitutional and a threat to stability in Osun State.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of orchestrating a plan to incite chaos in the state starting Monday, February 17, 2025. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Adeleke claimed Oyetola is working with security agencies to forcefully reinstate sacked local government chairmen affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Adeleke, the court ruling being cited to justify the move lacks a consequential order and contradicts an earlier judgment that led to the officials' removal before his tenure began. He warned that Oyetola, allegedly using his connections to the presidency, has instructed law enforcement to enforce this “illegality,” potentially leading to unrest.
The governor called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, expressing confidence that Tinubu, as a democrat, would not support actions that could lead to violence. He urged security agencies to uphold the rule of law rather than follow directives that could destabilize Osun State.
The development has sparked political tension, with Adeleke framing it as an attempt to undermine democracy in the state. The coming days are expected to be crucial as both sides prepare for a possible showdown.
