Former Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has refuted allegations made by his successor, Dr. Alex Otti, accusing his administration of awarding contracts worth N107.2 billion without execution. In response to Otti's claims, Ikpeazu dismissed the allegations as false and misleading.
Otti, who recently released a forensic report, alleged that the audit revealed the misappropriation of funds, stating that billions were paid to contractors without any projects being executed.
However, Ikpeazu countered these assertions, questioning the authenticity of the report and demanding transparency from Otti in revealing the auditors and contractors involved. Additionally, Ikpeazu's former Commissioner of Information, Trade, and Investment, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, also discredited Otti's claims, labeling them as baseless and politically motivated.
Kalu emphasized Ikpeazu's commitment to infrastructure development during his tenure, highlighting the suspension of the Abia airport project in response to community feedback.
