The Oyo State Government has arrested the organizers of a children’s party in Ibadan following a tragic stampede that resulted in the deaths of approximately 30 children. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Islamic High School, Basorun, during a holiday celebration meant for families.

According to reports, the event was organized by Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, in partnership with Agidigbo 88.7 FM, a radio station owned by Oriyomi Hamzat. Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed the arrests and announced that an investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances leading to the tragedy.

In a statement, Governor Makinde described the incident as heartbreaking and extended his condolences to the grieving families. He emphasized that the government has taken immediate steps to prevent further casualties by deploying security personnel and medical teams to the site. The event was halted, and attendees were escorted from the venue.
