The agency stated that a sample collected from Ogunsemilore tested positive for furosemide, a prohibited diuretic and masking agent according to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The sample was taken in Paris on Thursday, just before the Olympic opening ceremony, and the results were confirmed by a WADA-accredited laboratory on Saturday.
As a result, Ogunsemilore has been provisionally suspended and is barred from participating in any Olympic activities, including competing, training, or coaching.
The 22-year-old boxer, set to compete in the under 60 kg category, was scheduled to make her Olympic debut on Monday. Ogunsemilore has the right to challenge her suspension at the Court of Arbitration and may request an analysis of her B sample.
This incident adds to the growing list of doping cases at the Paris Olympics. On Friday, the ITA announced that Iraqi judoka Sajjad Sehen tested positive for anabolic steroids, and Dominican volleyball player Lisvel Eve Mejia also tested positive for furosemide.
The ITA continues to enforce strict anti-doping regulations to ensure fair competition and maintain the integrity of the Olympic Games. As the investigation proceeds, Ogunsemilore's future in the competition remains uncertain.
