Coach Emmanuel Osahon warns that the Super Falcons’ chances at the Paris 2024 Olympics are compromised due to the exclusion of key players. Osahon cites lack of unity as a major concern, highlighting that several players who were pivotal in qualification have been cut from the final squad.
The Super Falcons face significant challenges at the Paris 2024 Olympics, according to Emmanuel Osahon, coach and owner of FC Robo Queens. Osahon has criticized the lack of unity within the team, highlighting the controversial decision to exclude several key players who played a crucial role in their qualification.
Osahon’s concerns center around the exclusion of five to six players from the squad, including Gift Monday, who was part of the qualifying team but did not make the final cut. Striker Chinonyerem Macleans, who was absent throughout the qualifiers, also missed the final selection. Despite the setback, FC Robo’s notable players, including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Asisat Oshoala, and Chidinma Okeke, secured their spots on the roster.
The Super Falcons, nine-time African champions, are scheduled to begin their campaign against Brazil in Bordeaux on Thursday, with kickoff set for 6 PM Nigerian time. Osahon's remarks have sparked concerns about the team’s cohesion and preparation ahead of the prestigious tournament.
The squad's performance will be closely watched as they aim to overcome these internal challenges and make a strong impression on the global stage.
