Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God declares that the traditional 10% tithe is merely for beginners, encouraging greater contributions for those aspiring to leadership. He apologizes for previous statements linking tithing to salvation, emphasizing holy living as the true path to heaven.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has redefined the concept of tithing during a youth event in Ogun State. He stated that the traditional 10% tithe is merely for beginners and emphasized that more significant contributions are expected from those aspiring to lead and manage finances effectively.

In his address at the ongoing Youth Convention, Adeboye acknowledged his past statement implying that failing to tithe could jeopardize salvation, admitting it was incorrect and not biblically supported. He clarified that the Bible emphasizes peaceful and holy living as the true path to heaven.

Adeboye illustrated his point by recounting a story about a man who promised to donate N3.5 million during a fundraising event after starting a business with just $500. This man vowed to give God 90% of his earnings, which later surged to $50 million in turnover. Inspired by this, Adeboye stated he has gradually increased his contributions and is now giving significantly more than the basic 10%. He remarked that it is inappropriate to restrict contributions to a mere 10%, suggesting that true generosity and commitment to faith require much more. Adeboye’s comments encourage a broader understanding of tithing, highlighting the potential for greater spiritual and financial blessings when one is willing to give beyond the minimum standard.
