Pastor Enoch Adeboye calls for prayers as oil marketers attempt to sabotage the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, the only working refinery in Nigeria. He highlights how previous sabotage of state-owned refineries and fuel subsidies have harmed the country, urging for divine intervention and support for local refineries.
During the November 2024 Abuja Special Holy Ghost Service, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), urged Nigerians to pray for divine intervention regarding efforts to sabotage the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Adeboye highlighted the damaging actions of oil marketers who had previously undermined Nigeria’s four state-owned refineries and are now working against Dangote’s refinery, located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
Adeboye’s comments, while not directly naming the Dangote refinery, pointed to the ongoing battle between the refinery and oil marketers who seek to maintain their fuel import businesses. He expressed concern over Nigeria's reliance on fuel imports despite being a major crude oil producer, questioning why the country’s refineries have failed while Dangote’s refinery successfully refines petrol. He also underscored the negative impact of the fuel subsidy, which he described as a significant drain on Nigeria’s resources, leading to increasing debts and corruption.
According to Adeboye, some oil marketers, in alliance with international oil companies, are deliberately obstructing Dangote’s operations. These marketers have gone as far as restricting access to crude oil, forcing Dangote to source his crude from international markets, including the United States.
Adeboye urged Nigerians to pray for the country’s restoration, noting that the common people are suffering from the price hikes on essential goods caused by the sabotage. He called for a united effort to ensure the success of local refineries, including Dangote’s, to end Nigeria’s dependence on fuel imports.
