Pastor Tobi Adegboyega counters Kemi Badenoch's negative remarks about Nigeria by highlighting similar societal issues in the UK. He points out crime, particularly theft, and the challenges faced by the black community in the UK, emphasizing the need for a balanced view of both countries' issues.
Pastor Tobi Adegboyega has responded to Kemi Badenoch's negative portrayal of Nigeria, particularly her remarks about the police and societal issues. Badenoch had shared her bad experiences with the Nigerian police and contrasted them with her positive view of the British police. She also criticized the state of Nigeria, citing crime and corruption as major concerns.
In an interview on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today,’ Adegboyega, who leads SPAC Nation in the UK, countered that such societal ills are not unique to Nigeria. He pointed to the UK’s crime issues, citing that 78,000 bags and phones were snatched in the UK between 2023 and 2024. He also raised concerns about the disproportionate number of young black people in UK prisons and mental hospitals.
Adegboyega emphasized that while Nigeria faces challenges, it is unfair to solely blame the country for societal issues that are also present in the UK. He argued that the Nigerian community in the UK has fought for recognition and success, with many excelling in prestigious institutions like Harvard and Imperial College. He urged a balanced perspective, acknowledging Nigeria’s problems while also highlighting the progress made by Nigerians abroad.
