Dele Momodu accuses PDP governors opposing coalition talks of secretly supporting President Tinubu. He stresses the importance of unity among opposition parties to effectively challenge Tinubu in the 2027 elections, warning that lack of cooperation may result in further political failure for the opposition.

Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine, has raised a controversial allegation against certain governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suggesting that their opposition to the idea of a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections could secretly be aiding President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Momodu's remarks, made during an appearance on Arise Television, underline the growing tension within the opposition camps regarding the future of Nigerian politics.

According to Momodu, the PDP governors have dismissed the idea of a merger or coalition with other opposition parties in preparation for the upcoming elections. This statement, he argued, could be a subtle indication that some governors may be working covertly in support of Tinubu, as no individual opposition party is strong enough to unseat the current president in 2027.

Momodu pointed out that, to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), opposition parties must unite, much like the APC did in 2015 when they formed an alliance that ousted the then-PDP-led government. He expressed disappointment at the governors' reluctance to cooperate, warning that without a united front, they risk repeating the same failures that led to their defeat in previous elections. Momodu further stressed that if these governors refuse to work with others, they may unintentionally strengthen Tinubu's position, with some potentially supporting his presidency covertly.

Momodu’s comments shed light on the broader dilemma within the Nigerian political opposition, highlighting the need for strategic alliances and a unified approach to challenge the entrenched political structures ahead of 2027.
