The PDP National Working Committee members visited Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to affirm his leadership and address internal party disputes following a court decision nullifying state congresses. The visit aimed to foster unity, strategize for the 2027 elections, and support the reinstated National Secretary, Ude Okoye.

Key members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed strong support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid ongoing internal disputes within the party. The visit occurred at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where the NWC delegation met with the governor for a closed-door discussion.

The visit follows a recent court ruling that voided the party’s congresses in Rivers State, a decision that has deepened divisions within the PDP. Speaking after the meeting, PDP National Treasurer Ahmed Mohammed reaffirmed Fubara’s position as the leader of the party in the state. He emphasized the NWC’s commitment to fostering unity, addressing internal disputes, and preparing for the 2027 general elections.

The delegation also expressed its backing of Ude Okoye, who was recently reinstated as the PDP National Secretary by the Court of Appeal. Mohammed called on stakeholders to unite behind Okoye for the betterment of the party.

This meeting came just days after youth leaders from across the country held talks with Governor Fubara, aiming to stabilize the party’s structure in Rivers State. The court’s nullification of the congresses, which were previously dominated by allies of former Governor Nyesom Wike, has led to an interim committee stepping in to manage the party’s affairs in the state.

The NWC’s visit is seen as a strategic move to strengthen Fubara’s leadership and set a roadmap for the party’s recovery and future electoral success.
