The People's Democratic Party (PDP) emerged triumphant in Bayelsa State's local government elections, securing all eight chairmanship positions and dominating the councillorship seats across 105 wards.

The State Independent Electoral Commission announced the results in Yenagoa, with the PDP candidates winning by significant margins. Notably, Buloudisiye Ndiwari clinched the chairmanship in Yenagoa LG with 56,103 votes, while Alice Tangi emerged victorious in Sagbama LG with 51,543 votes.

In Ogbia LG, Golden Jeremiah prevailed with 42,462 votes, and Target Segibo emerged triumphant in Southern Ijaw LG with 36,326 votes. David Alagoa secured victory in Nembe LGA, Lelei Tariye in Kolokuma/Opokuma LG, Onniye Isaac in Ekeremor LG, and Febo Lucky in Brass LG.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) abstained from the polls, leaving the PDP uncontested. The resounding success of the PDP underscores its dominance in Bayelsa's political landscape ahead of the 2023 elections.
