The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has rejected the suspension of BoT Chairman Adolphus Wabara by the Abia State chapter, calling it unconstitutional. The party insists only the NWC can discipline NEC members. The decision highlights internal conflicts as the PDP fights to maintain stability and authority.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has dismissed the suspension of its Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, by the Abia State chapter. The State Executive Committee (SEC) had announced a one-month suspension over alleged anti-party activities and formed a panel to investigate him.

In response, PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba declared the suspension null and void, citing Section 57 (7) of the party’s constitution, which prohibits state chapters from disciplining members of the National Executive Committee (NEC). Ologunagba criticized the move as unconstitutional and warned that the NWC would take action against those violating party rules.

The PDP leadership reaffirmed its commitment to party stability and emphasized that disciplinary actions must follow due process. The rejection of Wabara’s suspension highlights internal tensions within the PDP, especially as the party navigates political challenges.

The controversy has sparked debate within party ranks, with supporters questioning the Abia SEC’s authority and the timing of Wabara’s suspension.
