The Digest:

Former Anambra Governor and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi has formally registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at his hometown in Agulu, Anaocha LGA, Anambra State. Addressing supporters at the flag-off of the party's membership registration and mobilisation exercise, Obi vowed to challenge the newly-passed Electoral Act 2026 in court, alleging it was "deliberately designed to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general elections." He accused INEC of assuming the role of political party elections rather than focusing on conducting credible elections. Obi declared that the South-East is "working as a family" and discussing with other regions to unite all opposition, stating: "The 2027 general election will be between Nigerians against bad leadership." He warned that laws are being hurriedly created to enable the ruling party to "snatch the 2027 presidential election and run away with it." Senator Victor Umeh and other party lawmakers also formally registered.
