Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for Nigeria's Labour Party (LP), has strongly refuted rumors that he plans to leave the party. Speaking at the ongoing National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Obi assured party members that he had not made any statements or engaged in discussions about departing LP. He emphasized his commitment to the party and clarified that any significant decisions about its direction would be made in consultation with its key stakeholders.
This clarification comes after speculation arose from Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who claimed that Obi, alongside other prominent figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was in talks to join the SDP in preparation for the 2027 election. However, Obi’s statement has put an end to these speculations, reaffirming his dedication to the Labour Party's future and its ongoing political journey.
