Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate supports Nigerian nurses and students seeking opportunities abroad, contrasting President Tinubu’s call for graduates to stay and help build Nigeria. Obi believes migration may provide a better life, with hopes for a return when the country improves.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in Nigeria's 2023 general election, recently advised Nigerian students to explore opportunities abroad if they feel their career growth is limited within the country. Speaking at a donation event in Anambra State, Obi emphasized the importance of seeking greener pastures, especially for graduates in fields such as nursing.

Obi made these remarks during a visit to two educational institutions in Anambra—Peter University in Achina/Onneh and the School of Nursing Sciences in Adazi-Nnukwu. During his address at the College of Nursing Sciences, Obi highlighted his ongoing commitment to supporting institutions that shape skilled professionals. His donation to these institutions, part of his yearly tradition, reflected his dedication to education and national progress.

The former governor of Anambra State remarked that those who choose to migrate for better opportunities should not be discouraged, stating, “If it is not going to work for you here, go to where it will work for you.” However, he reassured students that once Nigeria improves, they would be welcomed back to contribute to the country’s development.

This call from Obi stands in contrast to President Bola Tinubu’s recent plea for Nigerian graduates to stay and help rebuild the nation, sparking a broader conversation about the future of Nigeria’s youth.
