Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi State, and his successor Usman Ododo visited Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at his Abuja residence on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This visit has drawn considerable attention due to the legal troubles surrounding Bello, who is currently facing serious charges of fraud and money laundering. The former governor is accused of diverting over ₦110 billion from Kogi State funds, with his trial ongoing in two separate courts. Despite the controversies, the visit marked the first time Bello and Wike were seen together since Bello’s legal issues began.

Wike, a prominent figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had Bello and Ododo, who are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), at his home. The purpose of the meeting remains unclear, but it has sparked debates online, especially as Bello has not been seen with fellow APC members since his legal battles began.

Bello, who was released on bail in December 2024, is also facing a separate ₦80 billion money laundering charge. Many Nigerians have expressed their discontent on social media, questioning the political alliances and motivations behind the meeting, especially in light of the ongoing legal proceedings against Bello.
