Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick, addressed Victor Osimhen’s outburst against ex-Super Eagles coach Finidi George, labeling it “a moment of madness.”
This incident occurred in June after Finidi questioned Osimhen’s dedication to the national team following his withdrawal from the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and the Benin Republic due to an injury.
Pinnick, currently a FIFA Executive Committee member, expressed his disappointment over Osimhen’s reaction during an interview on Arise TV.
He revealed he contacted Osimhen to convey his disapproval and advised the striker to show remorse appropriately.
Pinnick reminisced about discovering Osimhen during his first tenure as NFF president.
He highlighted Osimhen’s achievements, including leading Nigeria to victory at the U-17 World Cup in Chile, where he emerged as the top scorer. Pinnick emphasized that Osimhen has always been respectful and humble towards him, making this outburst particularly surprising.
Pinnick urged Osimhen and other players to respect their coaches and leaders. He stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and professionalism, especially in expressing frustrations and grievances.
