Atiku Abubakar condemns President Tinubu for failing to protect Nigerians amid violent attacks in Plateau State. The former Vice President blames Tinubu’s incompetence for the deaths and calls for better prosecution of terrorists. He also urges the National Assembly to equip state security forces for enhanced protection.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has held President Bola Tinubu accountable for the deadly attacks in Plateau State, which have left dozens dead. Atiku condemned the recent assault on the Zike community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau, where 47 lives were lost on Sunday. The attack occurred only days after a similar tragedy in Bokkos.
Atiku expressed deep disappointment, stating that the loss of lives was a direct result of Tinubu’s administration’s failure to protect its citizens. He emphasized, “The primary duty of any government is to safeguard its people. Unfortunately, President Tinubu’s government has failed in this regard.”
The former Vice President extended his criticism beyond Plateau, highlighting the worsening security situation in Borno State, where terrorism and insurgency continue to claim lives and territories. He noted that the lack of prosecution for detained terrorists is allowing criminal groups to operate with impunity, further escalating the crisis.
Atiku has called for urgent reforms, urging the Attorney General of Nigeria to fast-track the prosecution of criminals and recommending that special courts be set up to handle terrorism-related cases. He also pushed for legislation that would enable state governments to equip local security forces with modern weapons, thereby improving Nigeria’s overall security system.
